For people with some shiatsu experience there is a thriving practice and support group based in Sutton, Surrey, UK.
The Group meetings are conducted on a fairly informal basis, with
fortnightly Monday evening practice/support nights and regular one-day
workshops approximately every 6 weeks or
so, usually on a Sunday. Full details are given below, but should you need
further information, contact:
Lee Sanger (Monday evening practice classes): telephone: 01737 371456 (day/answerphone),
01737 356396 (evening); email: sangers@clara.co.uk
Susan Crawshaw (one-day workshops): telephone: 01432 3578859;
email: susan@shiatsusan.co.uk
Most evenings have some sort of focus, but also there are evenings for 'general exchange'. From time to time a local teacher will run a class, or there will be a guest speaker. However, the usual format is for the people who turn up to each give their input into the evening and everyone learn from each other.
To help with self-development the Group tries to practice a different technique at the start of each evening - and encourage participants to bring ideas of what works for them, or make requests of things they want to try!
The group is a good mix of experienced MRSS, graduate practitioners, and students of all stages. It provides a good forum for the more inexperienced to practice techniques with more experienced people and get excellent feedback. It also allows practitioners to get support from each other, and for everyone to discuss their problem cases.
